How Can I Keep My Family Safe Around and In My Pool?
Protect What Matters: Here are our Top Pool Safety Tips
At Swimming Pools of Tupelo, your safety is our top priority. We understand that while pools are a source of fun and relaxation, they can also present risks if not properly maintained. That’s why we’ve compiled essential safety tips to help you protect your family and ensure peace of mind while enjoying your pool. Let us guide you in keeping your swimming experience both safe and enjoyable.
Secure your pool with an appropriate barrier or fence measuring at least 4 feet or higher with a self-closing, self-latching gate. This barrier should be installed before or upon installation to make sure your family and loved ones are safe right from the start.
Keep an approved safety cover on the pool when it’s not in use.
Teach your children how to swim. For best results, enroll your children in age-appropriate swim classes with trained professionals. Contact your local Parks and Rec office or Red Cross organization to learn where these classes are available near you.
Keep your pool clean by testing and maintaining proper chemical levels, filtration, and circulation.
Establish safety rules and display them clearly on signs around the pool area. Here are a few suggested rules to include:
No diving in the shallow area or in a pool less than six feet deep.
Always swim with a buddy.
Children must be supervised.
Children who cannot swim or are not strong swimmers should wear life jackets and be accompanied in the pool by an adult at all times.
Stay away from drain covers.
No running around the pool area.
Always, always make sure that children are supervised at all times, even if they know how to swim.
Learn CPR. Contact your local Red Cross organization to sign up for a course.
Take a watercourse from your local Red Cross and encourage your family to take it with you. If everyone can’t attend, take time to teach them what you have learned.
