How Do I Use a Sump Pump?

Using your pool’s sump pump properly ensures efficient water removal and protects your system from potential damage. Follow these step-by-step instructions carefully, adjusting the valves and pump settings as directed. Always stay with the system during operation, and if water does not flow as expected, turn off the pump immediately and contact Swimming Pools of Tupelo for assistance. This guide will walk you through each step to safely and effectively manage your pool's sump pump process.

  1. Turn off all pumps.

  2. Turn Jandy (gray valve) where OFF is toward the pump basket. You may need to jump stop on the valve.

  3. Open ball valve to the side.

  4. Set filter on waste.

  5. Turn the pool pump on.

  6. Stay with the system. If water does not start flowing in the pot on the pump, turn off the pump and call Swimming Pools of Tupelo.

  7. After the water stops flowing, turn off the pump.

  8. Close the ball valve.

  9. Turn Jandy valve back to where OFF is away from the pump pot.

  10. Turn filter to RINSE. Turn the pump back on for about 30 seconds. Then, turn the pump off and turn the filter back to the FILTER position.

  11. Turn the pool pump back on.
